Environmental
Lighting has never been considered energy efficient or economical – traditional light bulbs use 90% of their power to emit heat rather than visible light – and as a major source of electricity consumption, lighting has a huge impact on the environment.
Energy wasted through heat output places extensive and unnecessary pressure on fossil fuel consumption, so by increasing the efficiency of lighting, the impact can be phenomenal.
Architen Lighting recognise this problem and look for ways to avoid the waste created by traditional artificial light through careful design, engineering and component selection. We adopt alternative types of lighting to provide the same solutions. Both fluorescent lamps and LED lighting rely on the transition of electrons between levels to create light and not on incandescence.
Without such a high level of heat waste, LED lighting offers four times the efficiency of incandescent lighting. Manufacturers are constantly developing and improving products and are aiming for 80% efficiency by 2010 – a 16 fold improvement on traditional lighting. We work hard with our suppliers to source the most advanced, environmentally friendly products to satisfy our client’s needs.
Here at Architen Lighting we are fully conscious of our responsibility to the environment, combining energy efficient components with environmentally aware design – but we still know the importance of that ‘off button’!
